BREAKWATER by mrbenno BREAKWATER by mrbenno
Prince of Wales Point is entirely man made. This is the rough side of the breakwater designed to protect the container ships berthed at Port Botany in Sydney.
The place is made up entirely of simple solid concrete blocks which stretch the length of this eastern face for about a kilometer.

I've actually walked on the cylinders to find some interesting angles and you really have no idea of the scale of this place until you get in amongst it and close to the water.

If you're unlucky enough to fall between the cylinders there's a six meter drop into a maze of more of the same.

It's quite surreal.

Apparently it's not a bad place to shoot video clips.

thanks.

I should mention in case no one noticed, there's two guys standing in the middle of the picture.

Possibly a third standing directly next to the one closest to the water?

amazing shot. It looks much more
benign than what you're saying about it.

You should see it on a rough day.
Before they threw in the hexagonal blocks the swell would travel along the length of the wall.
One day the swell travelled around to the the beachside restaurant three kms away and reduced it to splinters.

You and I will be crawling around this place when you come here.

The whole area around that place is so depressing..it would seriously suck to live there.

You should check out the volume of toxic industrial waste warehoused in the area.
Now that's scary.

Thanks for looking.
